Aussie Call for Guidelines to Avoid Acquiring Looted Art

Following revelations in 'The Australian' that Canberra's National Gallery of Australia paid $6.9 million for six artefacts, five of which, according to documents, appear to have been looted from historical sites in India:
The director of Melbourne's National Gallery of Victoria, Tony Ellwood, has broken ranks and called on his fellow gallery directors to take a fresh look at the guidelines they are required to adhere to when collecting antiquities. [...] Mr Ellwood said he would use his position as chair of the Council of Australian Art Museum Directors "to place this issue on our next agenda".
